Tommy's passion for music began at an early age. As long as he can remember he's been singing. His first and true musical love is the piano. He took few lessons when younger but did not have the discipline to stick it out. Tommy was more of a "play by ear" type. He was not fond of the constant drills and lessons. He quickly abandoned lessons and has played by ear ever since. Although still not at the skill level of piano he wishes to be, he has decided to once again try the lesson route to further his knowledge.
In high school is where he began learning the guitar. Taught by "The Human Jukebox", Perry Yowell. By mid-way through high school he had broadened his musical horizons to more than just Billy Joel and had grown to love The Beatles. The rest, as they say, is history. Year by year Tommy John has strengthened his vocal and guitar skills.
In college, Tommy met Josh Willis and they formed a two-man, acoustic band, Wasted Youth, playing various covers for a few years.
Currently you can see Tommy John a couple Friday Nights per month at Hot Shotz Bar & Grill in the northside of Indianapolis on 96th street. He plays an acoustic set from 9-11:30 pm. Come on out and enjoy the tunes. Requests are welcome.
